WASHINGTON- The Obama administration on Monday condemned a suicide bombing attack earlier in the day in Afghanistan, vowing to work closely with the Karzai-led government to fight against terrorism.

"The United States strongly condemns the attack today of the Afghan national police regional training center in Kandahar, which killed an American police trainer and a Nepalese security guard," State Department spokesman Philip Crowley told reporters.

"The United States will continue to stand with our Afghan partners to fight terrorism and help the Afghan government provide security, safety and prosperity to its people," said the spokesman.

Three suicide bombers blew themselves off in a police training center in the southern Afghan province of Kandahar on Monday. Taliban militants have claimed responsibility for the blast.

Kandahar province, branded as the Taliban hotbed, has been experiencing spiraling violent incidents almost daily and the NATO- led International Security Assistance Force has announced that they will launch a major offensive against Taliban militants there within weeks.
