Talent is one of the top priorities for Tsinghua University, which has taken great effort to cultivate and introduce talent and cater to their needs.

The university founded the Vanke School of Public Health last year, aiming to boost talent training and scientific research and also further enhance China's capabilities in public health management.

It has hired Margaret Chan Fung Fu-chun, former director-general of the WHO, as inaugural dean of the school to nurture leading talents in public health worldwide.

In 2019, the university launched a special program allowing young faculty members at home and abroad to enjoy a good academic environment and decent salary. Under the program, assistant professors and associate professors are also eligible to guide doctoral candidates like professors, and the university has made sure they have quotas of these personnel every year.

The average research fund for newly hired young faculty last year was almost 10 times higher than five years ago.

The university has also adopted different evaluation standards for teaching-oriented faculty, research-oriented faculty, and teaching and research combined faculty, so more teachers can focus on teaching students.
