The 25th Chinese (Shanxi) medical team, comprising 25 healthcare professionals from Shanxi Bethune Hospital and Shanxi Provincial People's Hospital, arrived in late December in Cameroon to embark on a year-long medical assistance mission.

The team brings expertise in various fields, including internal medicine, general surgery, dentistry, anesthesiology, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, acupuncture, laboratory sciences, and pharmacy.

Upon arrival, the team members were assigned to two locations: Yaoundé and Mbalmayo. They are committed to addressing the specific needs of the local healthcare system by introducing new projects and technologies to help bridge existing technical gaps. In addition to providing routine medical care, they will conduct free clinics and outreach services, while also promoting traditional Chinese medicine in Africa.

Since Shanxi first dispatched a medical team to Cameroon in 1975, the province has sent 73 teams comprising 1,521 personnel to Cameroon, Togo, and Djibouti over the past 50 years. This ongoing effort underscores Shanxi's commitment to strengthening international medical cooperation and Sino-African ties through healthcare initiatives.
