China has expressed concern over the escalating situation in Yemen, saying it will continue to promote peace talks in its own way and play a constructive role in advancing a political settlement to the Yemen issue at an early date.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian made the remarks on Wednesday following the announcement by the chairman of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council that the country has entered a 90-day state of emergency.

China remains deeply concerned about the situation and reiterates its call for the preservation of Yemen's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, Lin said at a daily news briefing.

Lin said China hopes all parties will place the interests of the Yemeni people above all else, actively respond to mediation efforts by regional countries and the international community, and resolve differences through political dialogue.

China encourages all parties to seek solutions that accommodate the legitimate concerns of all sides and create conditions for an early restoration of peace and stability in Yemen, Lin said.
