Power use up 6.1%in Jan-Feb period
China's electricity consumption, a key barometer of economic activity, reached more than 1.65 trillion kilowatt-hours in the first two months, up 6.1 percent year-on-year, said the National Energy Administration. A breakdown of the data shows robust growth across various sectors. The primary industry saw a 7.4 percent increase in power consumption, bringing total consumption to 22.3 billion kWh. The secondary industry consumed about 1.03 trillion kWh, up 6.3 percent from a year ago, while the tertiary sector recorded 8.3 percent growth in power use, totaling 323.1 billion kWh.
Moves ensure smooth energy channels
The Datong-Qinhuangdao Railway, transporting some 350 million metric tons of coal each year from coal-rich Shanxi province, has strengthened measures to safeguard the efficient and orderly transport on the key energy channel. The Chawu Engineering Section of Datong-Qinhuangdao Railway Co has built a strong transportation defense line from three aspects: equipment, safety and teambuilding. Precise maintenance operations were launched, while pre-assignment education and practical exercises were carried out to bolster the professional skills of employees during winter operations.
