Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor is deepening cooperation with Chinese technology firms, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Eastern Economic Corridor Office and Zhuhai Hengqin Jingtong Rongzhi Technology Information Co in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, on Monday.

The agreement marks the first time a Chinese company has entered a public-private partnership with the EEC for government infrastructure projects, including participation in the construction of EECiti, a planned smart city within the corridor.

As Thailand's flagship development initiative, the EEC aims to boost global integration and drive economic upgrading. It focuses on five key sectors: healthcare, the digital economy, next-generation automotive, the bio-circular-green economy, and high-end services.

Under the cooperation, the Chinese company will help build a 100,000 P intelligent computing center in the EEC, to be developed in three phases, Su Yongfeng, the company's chief data officer, said. The project will be powered by green energy and is designed to support a zero-carbon industrial park and a national-level digital economy platform.

The initiative is expected to help Thailand address its computing capacity gap, enhance data security and sovereignty, and foster industrial clustering and talent development.

"The collaboration will serve as a starting point to steadily advance the overseas expansion of China's computing and electricity coordination technologies," Su said.
