Chinese premier calls for closer cooperation with Uzbekistan
China and Uzbekistan should continue to engage in high-level exchanges, enhance bilateral cooperation and strengthen multilateral coordination, Chinese Premier Li Qiang said during a meeting with Uzbekistani Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov in Beijing on Thursday.
Aripov had arrived in China on Wednesday for a two-day visit.
During the talks, Li said that, in recent years, China and Uzbekistan have maintained close high-level exchanges while there has been solid progress in bilateral relations.
China is willing to work with Uzbekistan to follow the strategic guidance of the two countries' heads of state, consolidate political mutual trust, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, investment, energy, resources, connectivity and people-to-people exchanges, and promote the building of a China-Uzbekistan community with a shared future, Li added.
The Chinese premier stressed the importance, amid a complex international landscape, of the two countries strengthening multilateral coordination, actively implementing the four major global initiatives proposed by China, and work for a more just and reasonable international order.
For his part, Aripov stated that Uzbekistan firmly adheres to the one-China principle and is committed to maintaining close high-level exchanges with China.
He also pledged to actively participate in Belt and Road cooperation, enhance economic, trade and cultural cooperation, and strengthen multilateral coordination, thereby further promoting the development of Uzbekistan-China relations.
