Zhejiang opportunities promoted in Brussels
The Mission of China to the European Union and Zhejiang province held a joint promotional event in Brussels on Monday themed "A New Journey for China-EU Cooperation: Discover Zhejiang."
Nearly 150 guests attended the event, including officials from EU institutions, representatives from major European media outlets and think tanks, and diplomats.
At the event, Chinese Ambassador to the EU Cai Run said that China-EU relations have become increasingly strategic and globally significant. He noted that 2026 marks the first year of China's 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30), bringing important opportunities for practical cooperation between China and the EU across various fields.
Cai described Zhejiang as both an important bridge for China-Europe exchanges and a major participant and contributor to China-EU cooperation. He said Europeans should visit Zhejiang to gain a firsthand understanding of a "real, multidimensional and comprehensive China". China, he said, is ready to work with the EU to seize opportunities, address challenges, and achieve new outcomes in bilateral cooperation.
Liu Xin, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress, said Zhejiang has established a solid foundation and achieved fruitful results in its cooperation with the EU. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Zhejiang will continue to strengthen its innovation advantages, further expand high-level opening-up, and work with European partners to write a new chapter of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, Liu added.
Piet Steel, honorary chairman of the Europe-Asia Center, called for stronger China-Europe partnership and mutual learning to help build a safer, more stable and sustainable world.
Following the event, Ambassador Cai and other guests visited an exhibition themed "The Eastward Gaze of Civilization".
