President Xi Jinping said on Thursday that China will open its door wider to the world and it welcomes more mutually beneficial cooperation with the United States.

Xi made the remarks when meeting with US entrepreneurs accompanying US President Donald Trump on his state visit to China. The meeting took place during talks between Xi and Trump at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Trump asked each of the business leaders to present themselves to Xi, saying that he strongly encourages them to expand their cooperation with China.

Xi noted that US enterprises are deeply involved in China's reform and opening-up, and both sides benefit from this engagement. He said that US companies will have even broader prospects in China going forward.

On Thursday afternoon, Premier Li Qiang also met with the US entrepreneurs at the Great Hall of the People. He emphasized that a stable and predictable economic and trade relationship between China and the US serves the interests of both countries and the world.

Li said that amid growing instability and uncertainty in the current international situation, it is of great significance for both countries to maintain open and unimpeded dialogue and communication to sustain a stable and healthy bilateral relationship, as this injects certainty and positive energy into global peace and development.

Noting that the economic and trade cooperation between China and the US is large scale, with extensive market and industrial connections, Li said that strengthening cooperation between the two sides can promote mutual benefit and win-win outcomes and contribute to global economic growth.

As the world's two largest economies, he said, China and the US should work together to lead in promoting open cooperation, manage their differences properly and maintain their economic and trade relationship, serving as a stabilizing and constructive force in the world.

A Chinese economy with steady growth will provide more opportunities for enterprises from all countries, including the US, the premier said.

The premier expressed the Chinese government's unwavering commitment to upholding a stable and open policy environment, and said that China will continue to expand high-standard opening-up, consistently provide high-quality services to foreign enterprises and continuously improve various policies.

He expressed the hope that more US enterprises will continue to expand their presence in the Chinese market, strengthen the bond of mutually beneficial China-US cooperation and serve as a bridge to promote communication and dialogue between the two countries, and help US people from all walks of life view China's development more objectively and rationally, thereby enhancing mutual trust and friendship.

The US business executives emphasized the critical importance of US-China relations, saying that the successful meeting between the leaders of the two countries has injected new momentum into US-China economic and trade cooperation, providing certainty for the global economy.

They expressed their expectations for the two countries to enhance dialogue and communication, expand mutual interests and achieve shared prosperity.
