A drone strike triggered a fire at an external power generator outside the core security zone of Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in Abu Dhabi's Al Dhafra Region on Sunday, according to the emirate's media office.

No casualties have been reported and while authorities said all safety precautions had been put in place, they stated that the blaze had not affected radiological safety,

The United Arab Emirates' Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation said the incident did not affect the safety of the plant or the readiness of its essential systems, adding that all reactor units were running as normal.

Stating that official updates would be issued in due course, authorities also urged the public to rely only on verified sources of information and to avoid spreading rumors or unverified reports.
