Huawei donates US$130,000 equipment to Rwanda

Huawei, a leading Chinese supplier of telecommunications network, has donated telecommunications equipment valued at US$130,000 to the Rwandan government.

The company has said that the donation is an act to honor its promises of serving Africa and help Rwanda develop information and technology industry.

Lou Qinjian, deputy minister of information industry of China, said at the ceremony held in Rwanda on Sunday, that, as a developing country like many African countries including Rwanda, China has mutual benefits and interests with African countries.

"We have the same vision in deepening cooperation, and we hope Chinese companies will fulfill their social responsibility and make more contribution to the local government and people," Lou said.

Rwanda's State Minister in charge of Energy and Communication Albert Butare thanked the Chinese government for continuous support for Rwanda in various domains, including the  communication sector.

He said that the Rwandan government hoped that Chinese companies will participate in Rwanda's ambitious program of developing infrastructure.
