The data authority says the average salary at China's urban private companies reached nearly 21 thousand yuan. That represents a 14.1 percent increase from 2009. It's also more than double the growth rate of 6.6 percent registered in the previous year.

Wages in the urban non-private sector climbed 13.5 percent, to more than 37 thousand yuan. That's in line with the previous year's growth rate. The non-private sector comprises government agencies, State-owned enterprises, listed companies and foreign invested companies.
