Youngsters recite Confucius' quotations at a ceremony in Quanzhou, Fujian Province on August 31, 2008. The service was a way to express respect and appreciation to their teachers a day ahead of the start of a new semester. It also commemorated the 2,559th birthday of Confucius which falls on September 28, promoted as the Teachers' Day. Another ceremony was also held for 300 traditionally dressed high school students to usher in their adulthood. [cnsphoto]
