GUANGZHOU - Three workers were found dead Saturday morning after being poisoned by unidentified gas at a subway construction site in Guangzhou, capital of south China Guangdong Province.

The workers were analyzing the gas underground, which was a necessary procedure in subway building, when they were poisoned and trapped at 5:15 p.m. Saturday, according to the emergence official of the city government and the Guangzhou Metro Corporation.

The workers were recovered by rescuers early Saturday morning.

It was not known what gas has poisoned the workers. The city government has ordered authorities to find out if the site had been a deposit of poisonous chemicals in history.
