US' tire tariff plan is protectionism

Updated: 2009-08-12 11:22 There are no factual or legal grounds for the US' proposed tariff on Chinese tires, Fu Ziying, the vice minister of Commerce, said at a press conference today. The slowdown in the American tire industry is the result of the global economic crisis, not Chinese tire exporters, Fu said, arguing that the proposed tariffs of Chinese-made tires are evidence of trade protectionism.
