Vice chairman of Taiwan's ruling Kuomintang (KMT) John Hsiao-yen Chiang said mainland tourist attractions charged too much money. He was speaking at the Cross-Straits Trade and Culture Forum in South China's Guangzhou over the weekend, the local Information Times reported.

Famous sites like Zhangjiajie and Jiuzhaigou charge more than 200 yuan ($29.5), and almost all temples in mainland charge fees, while in Taiwan, tourists don't have to pay to get into any of them, Chiang added.

"Historical sites and sceneries are left by our ancestors, so I don't think they should charge too much," he said.
