BEIJING - China does not mind criticism but cannot accept double standards from the foreign media, Minister of the State Council Information Office Wang Chen said on Monday.

"China's domestic media is critical too, and China is not against criticism but biased reports based on a Cold War mentality or different ideologies," Wang said when addressing the Sino-French Media Forum in Beijing.

Considering the different cultures, values and levels of economic development in China and the West, both sides should learn from each other and respect the diversity of their development paths, "just like those who use a knife and fork to eat respect those who use chopsticks", he said.

China is trying its best to enhance social justice and equality, which is not an easy task within the Western world either, he added.
