Beijing to implement strictest food safety regulations

By Lu Ting (chinadaily.com.cn) Updated: 2013-01-23 16:56

To ensure the common safety of residents in Beijing, The Beijing Food Safety Regulations will be officially put into use on April 1. Anyone who owns, manages or works in a food business will be affected by these regulations.

The regulations aim to set out better and more severe hygiene principles for market admittance in the food industry. They focus more strongly on how to identify and control food safety risks at each stage in the process of preparing and selling food.

In addition, a food safety information inquiry center will be established in 2013 that will enable the public to get more information about food safety.
