The city of Zhengzhou, Henan province, has supplied 850 kg of grain for wild birds that could not find food when the ground was covered by snow recently, Dahe Daily reported on Monday.

On Feb 7 and 8, the staff of Zhengzhou Yellow River Wetland Nature Reserve and the Wildlife Protection and Nature Reserve Management Office under Zhengzhou Forestry Bureau sprinkled corn and wheat along the Yellow River Wetland, in order to feed wild birds that could not find food on the snow-covered ground.

Official information shows there are more than 100 kinds of wild bird that winter over in the wetland and more than 10 of the species are on the national first class protection list.
