Police in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, cracked down on prostitution in the city's Longhua district on Monday, Xinhua News Agency reported on Tuesday.

Police received reports recently that some places providing prostitution were hidden in residential communities and interfered with the daily life of local residents.

During the crackdown, police detained 69 people including prostitutes, service staff and customers.

Some prostitutes were confirmed to have moved to Shenzhen from Dongguan, another city in the province, which made serious efforts to crack down on prostitution early this year.
