Anti-graft watchdog uploads drama about frugal official

China's top anti-corruption watchdog has uploaded a 19-episode TV drama, which tells the story of a frugal official who lived 300 years ago, to its official website to advocate clean governance.

From Wednesday, The Uncorrupted Official Yu Chenglong, first broadcast by China Central Television in 2000, became available for viewing through the website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China.

The drama is about Yu Chenglong, an official who lived from 1617 to 1684 and was famous for his frugality as well as his dedication to work.

The commission said on its website on Wednesday afternoon that the TV drama is expected to remind government officials to be diligent and frugal.

It is relatively rare for a government agency to provide a TV drama through its official website.

In December 2012, the top-ruling Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee put forward its "eight-point rules", which encouraged frugality and urged government officials to get close to the people.
