BEIJING - Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang on Monday said that China respects the Ukrainian people's choice in the country's presidential election.

Qin made the remarks at a daily press briefing when responding to a question about exit polls showing the "Chocolate King" Petro Poroshenko won Ukraine's presidential election on Sunday with an absolute majority.

China hopes relevant sides will adhere to dialogues and negotiations and continue to push forward the crisis resolution process through political means so as to realize stability and restore social order, said Qin.
