The agricultural authorities in Guangdong have launched a campaign to select the province's top 30 agricultural products, in a bid to promote modern agricultural science and technology and boost the quality and safety of agricultural products.

The campaign involves products in 10 categories: rice, pork, chicken, duck, geese, fruit, tea, vegetables, fish and shrimp, according to the Guangdong Provincial Agriculture Department.

Zheng Weiyi, director of the department, said the products selected for the campaign should not have been implicated in any food scandals in the past three years.

The results will be announced in November, after solicitation of public opinions, expert review and market survey.
