An official in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region was suspended after an online post accused him of threatening a nurse with whom he allegedly had an extramarital affair.

Tao Zhengchun, director of the Poverty-Reduction Office in Zhongshan county, received the punishment on Tuesday for suspected grave violation of discipline, according to a report of the China News Service.

Local anti-corruption authorities are investigating, said the report.

On Monday, an online post accused him of having an affair with a nurse named Tao Meili who worked at Zhongshan People's Hospital. In the post, the netizen, who claimed to be Tao, said that she was threatened by the official after she pushed him to divorce his wife and marry her.

The post also accused the official of corrupt activities, including embezzlement and bribery.
