The National Day Golden Week is a happy and relaxing time for not only Chinese travelers, but also for foreigners studying and working in China. Many foreign faces among the crowds are seeking to use the time to engage Chinese tradition, culture and history.

Red lanterns, mountain-climbing excursions and wine sipping are on American Corey Cooper's docket for tomorrow's Mid-Autumn Festival. The traditional celebration, also known as Moon Festival, is a time for Chinese family reunions.

"I am flying to Changsha to meet my friends for the occasion," the 28-year-old says.
