Beijing Sets Up 2008 Olympics Organizing Committee

Five months after winning the right to hold the 2008 Olympic Games, Beijing
established its organizing committee on Thursday to embark on a campaign for a
best ever Games seven year later.
Chinese Vice Premier Li Lanqing attended the launching ceremonyThursday
afternoon at the Great Hall of the People.
Beijing was awarded the 29th Olympics in Moscow on July 13 whenthe Chinese
capital beat the other four candidate cities including Paris, Toronto, Istanbul
and Osaka.
