Veteran actor Lin Yongjian will portray Nie Rongzhen, a legendary general of modern China, in a 28-episode television show based on a book by Nie's daughter Nie Li. It starts with Nie's days as a student in Europe, followed by his experiences in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1937-45), the Chinese Civil War (1945-49) up to and after the founding of the People's Republic of China. It will be the second time Lin has played Nie, after a supporting role in a film earlier this year. The show will premiere in June 2013.
