China has been invited to become the Country of Honor at the 2009 Frankfurt International Book Fair, which runs from Oct 14 to Oct 18.

The Chinese International Publishing Group, the country's oldest and largest publisher and provider of Chinese books for overseas markets, is seizing this opportunity to promote more than 1,300 titles, including 403 newly published works.

At the book fair, the Chinese International Publishing Group will stage an international academic forum in collaboration with the General Office of the Confucius Institute on international Chinese studies (sinology) and contemporary China, attended by scholars from Germany, Russia, the Netherlands, France and China.

The publishing group will also cooperate with Hugendubel, a leading book distributor in Germany, to organize a Chinese book sale from Oct 1 to Oct 31, offering German readers more than 300 titles about Chinese history and culture in German and English.
