The association between St. Regis and polo emerged early in the 20th century, when both the sport and The St. Regis New York became part of New York's vibrant summer social scene.

In 2008, the St. Regis International Cup was established in England and the first match was played at Cowdray Park Polo Club, the home of British Polo. To strengthen its commitment to the game of polo, St. Regis selected celebrated Argentinian polo player Nacho Figueras as the first-ever St. Regis Connoisseur.

For years, the brand has been involved in polo events throughout the world, especially around locations where its properties are located.
