Most can be folded up and easily carried. Battery-operated scooters cost from 1,500-4,000 yuan ($240-645) and can go 20-40 kilometers if fully charged. Since they're not considered motor vehicles legally, they can only be used indoors or on enclosed community pathways. Riding them on motorways or bike lanes risks a 5-10 yuan fine.
