Direct subsidy on food grain production: effects and policy recommendations

Abstract:

The main content, the operational details, the approaches and the results of direct subsidy policy on food grain production are analyzed, regarding the pilot projects at a county level. Policy recommendations are made based on the recognition of remaining problems, including regulation on minimum purchasing price of food grains, trials on loaning to food grains production and trading, trials on crop insurance, more efforts in improving production service in major production regions which are all covered by the food grain direct subsidy system.
