Fujian province's agriculture sector posted an impressive growth record over a 12-month period, with statistics showing that the overall agricultural output reached 15.295 million tons last year - with milk, egg and meat production increasing 7.9 percent to 2.4 million tons - and its total value reaching 300 billion yuan ($49 billion).

Following the establishment of the Experimental Zone for Cross-Straits Agricultural Cooperation, agriculture in Fujian is moving towards a green direction, with 2, 467 kinds of ecolabelled and organic products put on the market in 2011. The local government aims to increase its efforts to optimize the agricultural production structure and promote agriculture technology, so as to complete a transition from conventional to sustainable farming.
