Severe drought since mid-June has left nearly 2.46 million people in Guizhou province facing temporary water shortages, according to provincial authorities. Since last month, the drought has caused direct losses of 7.5 billion yuan ($1.23 billion) and affected lives of about 15 million people, the report added. The provincial civil affairs bureau has launched a disaster relief fund of 95 million yuan since the drought started.
