Guizhou province produced 130 million cellphones in 2016, ranking fourth among 21 cellphone-making provinces in the country, according to a report by China Business Network.
The report cited figures by the State Statistics Bureau to conclude that a total of 2.1 billion cellphones were manufactured in China, representing year-on-year growth of 13.6 percent. About 1.5 billion, or 74.4 percent of them, were smartphones, up by 9.9 percent.
Guangdong province was the biggest cellphone manufacturer in 2016, with 964 million units having rolled off the production line. Chongqing and Henan together rounded out the top three, each producing more than 200 million units.
