The colorfully painted aircraft Xingyi Wanfenglin Boeing 727-800 accomplished its first flight on Aug 1, landing at Wanfenglin Airport in Xingyi city, Guizhou province.
To mark its first journey, the airport staffs gave the aircraft a high standard of celebration called Guoshuimen, where the plane slowly coasted across the long stream of water which was sprayed from fire engines on both sides, meaning welcoming back.
As the first tourism airplane co-sponsored by the Qianxinan Buoyei and Miao autonomous prefecture government and China United Airlines, the surface of plane body is painted with Qianxinan symbolic city images.
Including local blossom Bougainvillea, Wanfenglin Mountain and Diaojiaolou building of the Miao ethnic group, the painting took 12 months for design, airworthiness test and coloring, according to a local official.
It will serve passengers between Xingyi and dozens of medium and large scale cities in China, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hangzhou, in a bid to attract more tourists to the stunning city of Xingyi.
