Guizhou has achieved rapid development in the e-commerce business, according to the Guizhou Provincial Development of Commerce. Data shows that a total retail sales of 6.98 billion yuan ($1 billion) in e-commerce businesses were made during the first half of 2018, with a year-on-year growth of 36 percent.
The province cultivated 70 national and 23 provincial e-commerce demonstration counties this year. More than 60 county-level e-commerce operation service centers and 12,200 village-level e-commerce service stations were built. Approximately 80 percent of townships were able to enjoy express logistics services. Consumption in rural areas of the province upgraded and became more convenient with the expansion of e-commerce business and the improvement of infrastructure.
In recent years, Guizhou has dedicated itself to setting up an express delivery service network to connect counties, townships and villages, covering 60 percent of the impoverished areas of the province. Meanwhile agricultural products sold in e-commerce platforms were encouraged to be standardized and traceable.
Since 2016, Guizhou has started to promote online sales of agricultural products in rural areas through cooperation between large-scale e-commerce enterprises and impoverished counties. The adjustment of agricultural structure and the sale of green agricultural products provides a new method for people in rural areas get rid of poverty.
