In the view of Sun, establishing the Vietnamese factory is more of a strategy than a tactic. Tactically, the purpose of the action is just to reduce the cost of raw materials and workforces, evade the risk of currency fluctuations and international trade barriers. But strategically, the factory will be a base for D&D's future industrial transfer.

"It is a significant action to realize D&D's industrial transformation and upgrading and reinforcing the foundation for 'internationalization'," said Sun. "Through six years' efforts, the factory has maintained sound development momentum. So far, with more than 200 workers, all the products exported to Europe are manufactured here, including OBM (original brand manufacturing) and OEM (original equipment manufacturing) orders.”

D&D's sales revenue in the first half of 2015 reached $8.3 million, making a profit of $510,000.
