Yungang Grottoes on South Korean fabric

The Yungang Grottoes are known around the world as a cultural heritage site and have now been introduced?into a South Korean collage.

Han Jianhua, the secretary general for publicity of the grottoes, said that five types of collage on fabric, with grotto scenes, have been produced and are expected to be available to Chinese and international markets by the end of April.

Fabric collages have long been a popular art form in western countries and were developed by Japan and South Korea in the mid to late 20th century.

Liu Xiaoquan, the deputy director of the Yungang Grotto Research Institute, explained that the idea for using this popular folk art form was to acquaint people with Datong, a famous historical city, and the grottoes, a world heritage site.
