The annual governmental work report and future development plan for Shanxi were delivered at the seventh session of the 12th Shanxi Provincial People's Congress on Jan 14 in Taiyuan, the provincial capital.
More than 500 deputies took part in group discussions and put forward proposals to further the structural reforms of local industry, improve the lives of residents and boost the province's economy.
Government officials, including Luo Huining and Lou Yangsheng, attended the plenary congress. Governor Lou Yangsheng summarized the work undertaken in 2016 and set a new target for fostering Shanxi's development during 2017.
