Shanxi province announced 11 landmarks in 11 cities on July 15. The Wooden Tower in Yingxian county, Qiao's Grand Courtyard in Qixian county and the Guandi Temple in Yuncheng are on the list.
The selection began online on March 28, and then continued with well-travelled individuals, media commentators and professionals conducting assessments.
"I was born under the Wooden Tower in Ying county, and the tower is a part of my life," said a citizen participating in the selection.
The selection will be conducted annually, to promote Shanxi culture and attract more visitors.
