Recently opened to the public, the Shila Lake scenic area in Tai'an, East China's Shandong province offers a top-notch destination for local residents to work out while enjoying the picturesque scenery, due to its improved fitness facilities.

The running trails laid with colored asphalt have been popular among locals.

"The rails are on both sides of the river, about 3.5 kilometers long on each side," said a local official. "There are also basketball courts and other sports facilities for residents to work out."

The Shila Lake scenic area also boasts beautiful sights and retro buildings.
