Germany'Jan Frodeno wins men's triathlon title

BEIJING - Jan Frodeno of Germany won the Olympic gold medal in the men's triathlon in Beijing on Tuesday.

Frodeno held off a late charge by Canadian Simon Whitfield to finish in 1:48.53. Whitfield had to settle for the silver in 1:58.58.
Bevan Docherty of New Zealand took the bronze.
