Stop wasting public money

About 100 Chinese university presidents are going to countries like Japan and the US this year to undergo advanced education training. But it seems that the authorities haven't yet realized that people view such public-funded trips with suspicion, says an article in China Youth Daily. Excerpts:

The rising percentage of unemployed university students and other problems have created the need for Chinese universities' officials to get some advanced training in how to best tackle the situation, for which they may have to travel and stay abroad.

But a lot of cases of officials taking free holidays abroad on the pretext of undergoing advanced training have come to light. This is a gross waste of taxpayers' money. Such trips should be scrutinized strictly to save precious money.

Moreover, it is not necessary for only university heads to undergo advanced education training. It'd make more sense to send scholars with the best teaching experience and introduce debate and competition for their selection.
