Coming to terms with a change of culture

(bbs.chinadaily.com.cn) Updated: 2014-09-23 16:39

Moira (Ireland)

I get culture shock anywhere I go. Where I lived in China, it was very clean and quiet. The locals were very friendly toward me, because they knew me well. They were wonderful to my daughters who are bi-racial (half Irish/half Chinese). The kindness towards my daughters can be a pseudo "culture shock". Now I live in upstate New York, most people here won't even say ‘hi’ to another person, sad but true. Hopefully, by the grace of God, we will get back to China next year.
