Journalists tour Urumqi

Nur Bekri, chairman of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region government, met a group of foreign journalists visiting the Urumqi region on Thursday.
He gave a brief introduction to the region's development in economy and people's livelihoods as well as its commitment to build a prosperous, stable and harmonious Xinjiang with the central government's major support.
Organized by the information department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the group of 25 journalists from 17 foreign media spent two days visiting Urumqi and its surrounding areas in Xinjiang since Tuesday. Next, they will head to Qinghai province to learn the results of 10 years of implementation of China's "Go West" strategy.
