About 16,000 visitors arrived at Wudang Mountains, in Shiyan city, central China's Hubei province, during Chongyang Festival, marking another tourist peak following the seven-day National Day holiday, wudangshan.gov.cn reported.

Chongyong Festival, or Double Ninth Festival, is a traditional Chinese festival and also an important Taoist festival celebrated on the 9th day of the ninth lunar month, when some people climb a high mountain and visit the grave of their ancestors.

It fell on Oct 13 this year, and it is also an opportunity to show respect to the elderly. Many visitors came to pray at Wudang Mountains, and the management also organized various kinds of folk culture activities.

Most of the tourists came from nearby cities, including Wuhan and Yichang and cities in Henan province.

In addition, most likely due to the measures taken by local authorities and the convenient transportation, the number of tourists from Guangzhou, Chongqing, Beijing, and cities in Jiangxi province, as well as from overseas, also increased.
