As one of the activities of the 15th China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF), the 2013 summit forum on the development of Chinese smart cities was held on Nov 17 in Shenzhen.

The forum is hosted by 10 ministries and commissions including the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Academy of Sciences at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the National Academy of Engineering. It is co-organized by International Data Corporation (IDC) and the Intelligence Industry Development Center of the National Information Center.

More than 40 Chinese and foreign experts gave speeches on the trend of smart cities, innovation and application, the chances and challenges for the development of smart cities, and the third-party platform for the development of smart cities.
