Fright night reminder! Those wearing Halloween fancy dress costumes on the Beijing subway will face arrest as the scary masks or make-up may cause panic and create trouble, the Beijing News reported.

With Halloween's arrival, the wearing of gruesome costumes on the city's extensive subway network could cause "panic", the Beijing-based newspaper said, citing police authorities.

Halloween is growing in popularity among Chinese youth in a similar way to other Western festivals including Christmas and Valentine's Day.
