Ominous sinkhole opens up in front of wedding registry

Marriage, with its ups and downs, has been likened to a roller coaster. But some lovers in Chenzhou city, Hunan province are now saying it is more like an abyss, after a sinkhole swallowed a fruit van and a section of road in front of a marriage registry office in the city, Huxiang news.com reported on Friday.

A tricycle carrying boxes of fruit fell into the hole in front of the marriage registry in Yizhang county, Chenzhou city, the day before the traditional Chinese Valentine's Day. Fortunately, no one was injured and police quickly sealed off the area.

The photo of the scene spread quickly online, drawing sarcastic comments from Internet users.

"See? Marriage really is like jumping into a hole," one netizen quipped.
