Yahoo shuffles execs as part of major reorganization

LOS ANGELES -- Yahoo! on Thursday announced its second major reorganization in less than two years, as the beleaguered Internet company sought to beat back a shareholder revolt that appears to be gaining traction.

The shakeup gives new responsibilities to Ash Patel, an executive vice president who was responsible for platforms and infrastructure, and Hillary Schneider, an executive vice president who headed global partner solutions.

Yahoo said Patel will take responsibility for product strategy and product management, while Schneider will lead a team that is responsible for "go-to-market activity" in the United States. Yahoo also established a third "insights strategy" team that will be in charge of data and analysis across the company.

Patel and Schneider will report to Yahoo President Sue Decker. Yahoo said it planned to name a leader of the "insights strategy" team within the next few weeks.

"The changes we're making today will help deliver superior global products for users and enable faster and better decision-making," Decker said in a statement.
